Global Emerging Educational Leaders Summit 2010

Overview

The 2010 Summit will gather a ‘tribe’ of 100 of the most innovative and inspirational emerging educators (35 years old or younger) from across the Commonwealth of Nations for two days of collaboration, leadership development and exposure to the most innovative educational ideas on the planet. This Summit is set to become an annual ‘incubator’ for emerging educational thought leaders globally.

The Emerging Leaders Summit will be an intensive and customised leadership development experience. Working with leading academics and experienced practitioners from the field, participants will be equipped with the capabilities and confidence to influence their peers, school and system. Participants will develop the self-awareness, and leadership capabilities necessary for being effective change agents in a range of educational contexts.

The Summit will provide a unique opportunity for high-potential teachers and leaders to build collaborative partnerships with others from across the Commonwealth of Nations. The conference aims to connect this new ‘tribe’ of change agents in order to stimulate innovative initiatives and support the emergence of a fresh conversation about educational change. An online platform will ensure participants can stay connected and collaborate beyond the Summit.

Learning Objectives

All learning will be grounded in the reality of the practical change that participants are seeking to drive in their schools and communities. It aims to prepare leaders to be action-orientated and future focused. The curriculum for the Summit is built on the theoretical foundation of the ACEL Leadership Capability Framework.

During the conference Emerging leaders will:

  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of LEADERSHIP THEORIES and models in order to gain a framework through which to lead and develop.
  • Develop SELF AWARENESS of their current leadership strengths and begin to build a personal leadership philosophy.
  • Examine the challenges to DRIVING CHANGE in educational institutions and learn how to lead others with emotional intelligence and resilience.
  • Be EXPOSED to innovative approaches to improving learning outcomes.
  • Set clear GOALS for future leadership development and plan to establish mentoring relationships.
